The future is collaborative
“I’m pretty sure you don’t know me. I am Emiel and in normal live I help organizations to get the right level of grip on their processes. Formally I do that for a large vendor of enterprise software. But more and more I do that with my own initiative Procesje (wouldn’t call it a company). My style is sometimes seen as unorthodox as my mission is to challenge the mumbo-jumbo in BPM world and call myself a “common sensei”. To me business process management is just daily business. Every company is doing business process management, only some are not so good at it.”
Emiel has been working as a trainer and consultant for vendors of software like BPM tooling, since 1999. He started his own initiative, Procesje.nl, mainly because he was very surprised on how organizations could get lost in “the next hype”. He tries to help organizations bring the essence back in their processes. He always get surprised that business process management is often taken very serious by self proclaimed gurus, advertising space selling analysts, tool vendors or consultants in nice suits. Indeed he thinks some companies are not so good with applying process management and need a little coaching, but not an endless project led by some kind of process excellence center. He defends that process management must be applied with common sense.
During the years, he applied different methods and tools to make processes perform, but not just applying them again and leave. He'd like to act more as a coach and let organizations discover if their processes need attention and what aspects of the process might be changed to improve performance of that process. Besides that he like to share his experiences and make some fun. That's why he posts little 'processes' on procesje.nl blog. He is also a contributor to bpm.com and likes to post and comment on other places like twitter.
